American Flag Quilt

I made this quote in about a day based upon a photo of a pattern I saw online. It was fairly easy to make. I learned several things from this quilt top. First pay attention to directional fabric. The stars looked all the same but in fact they were directional although I think having them go in different directions actually helped. Second the red was too light. I should have used a darker red but that was what I had on hand.

The third thing I learned was that I didn’t realize how much time sashing takes and lastly how to quickly align blocks with fairly accurate points. I do need to make a table top Ironing board and that is now on my list to make.

Iโ€™m Barry โ€” a retired electrician who traded wires for fabric and found a new passion in quilting. Since retiring in 2021, Iโ€™ve enjoyed the freedom to create, travel, and share my projects on my YouTube channel, Barry Quilts. Retirement has given me the time to do what I love most โ€” make, learn, and inspire others along the way.
