My Quilting 6 Month Update After Retirement

Can you believe it’s already been half a year since I started quilting? In this update, I’m sharing what I’ve learned, what’s surprised me, and how my relationship with quilting has evolved over the past six months. From my very first wobbly stitches to finishing a few real quilts, it’s been a journey full of creativity, mistakes, small victories, and lots of thread!

I’ll answer some questions I’ve been getting, reflect on my favorite tools and techniques so far, and talk about what’s next on my quilting path. Whether you’re a beginner like me or a seasoned quilter, I hope you’ll enjoy this honest look at where I’m at and what keeps me inspired to keep going.

And of course—thank you to everyone who’s been cheering me on. You make the journey even more meaningful.

🧵 Let’s chat quilting, learning curves, and finding joy in the process.

I’m Barry — a retired electrician who traded wires for fabric and found a new passion in quilting. Since retiring in 2021, I’ve enjoyed the freedom to create, travel, and share my projects on my YouTube channel, Barry Quilts. Retirement has given me the time to do what I love most — make, learn, and inspire others along the way.
