I Was Against Using Accuquilt Go Until I wasn’t – How It Is Changing My Quilting

The AccuQuilt GO! is a manual die‑cutting system tailored for quilters. It consists of three core parts:
1. A crank‑operated steel‑roller cutter
2. Interchangeable steel‑blade dies surrounded by foam
3. Cutting mats sized to fit the dies

You place layered fabric on a die, sandwich it under a cutting mat, and run it through the cutter using the easy‑turn crank. The blades in the die cut through the layers with precision, while the foam helps align the fabric and ensures safety—so you won’t accidentally cut your fingers ().

🔧 Key Features
• Speed: Cuts up to 90% faster than rotary cutters or scissors—up to six layers of fabric at once .
• Accuracy & Waste Reduction: Pre‑set blades and ¼″ seam allowances avoid cutting mistakes and minimize fabric waste .
• Ergonomics & Safety: Manual operation means no electricity, fewer sore hands or wrist strain, and the foam‑encased dies eliminate blade exposure .
• Portability & Storage: The folding design and handle make it easy to carry and store—about 15 lb, with a compact footprint when folded .
• Die Compatibility: Works with a wide range of over 200 GO!‑model dies (note: it does not support GO! Big or Studio series dies) .

📦 What’s Included in the Starter Set

Typical packages offer:
• GO! Fabric Cutter (approx. 15 lb)
• A 6″ × 12″ cutting mat
• Value dies (commonly three dies, e.g. triangles and small squares)
• A die pick, pattern book (with ~13 quilt block designs), quick‑start guide, and registration card

Larger bundle sets sometimes include additional dies, mats, and templates for more quilt‑block options .

✅ Pros & Cons

👍 Pros
• Fast & Efficient: Speeds up the cutting process dramatically.
• Consistently Accurate Cuts: Great for complex piecing like half‑square triangles; dice include dog‑eared corners and ¼″ seam allowances so trimming is minimized .
• Safe & Ergonomic: Ideal for users with arthritis or wrist strain—no exposed blades and easy‑turn handle .
• Portable: Easily taken to retreats or classes .

⚠️ Cons
• Cost: Initial investment is higher than rotary cutters; dies, mats, and replacement parts add up over time.
• Limited Die Usage: Not compatible with “GO! Big” or Studio series dies—so if you plan to expand to larger patterns, you may need the GO! Big electric cutter.
• Mats Wear Out: Cutting mats degrade with use and must be replaced periodically .

🧵 Best For…
• Quilters who cut many identical shapes (like HSTs, strips, etc.)
• Users wanting cleaner, more streamlined cutting with less physical effort
• Quilters attending classes, guilds, or retreats needing portability
• Anyone looking to cut various fabrics—cotton, batiks, wool, flannel, fleece, denim, leather, silk, and more—with included seam allowance
