American Flag Quilt

I made this quote in about a day based upon a photo of a pattern I saw online. It was fairly easy to make. I learned several things from this quilt top. First pay attention to directional fabric. The stars looked all the same but in fact they were directional although I think having them go in different directions actually helped. Second the red was too light. I should have used a darker red but that was what I had on hand.

The third thing I learned was that I didn’t realize how much time sashing takes and lastly how to quickly align blocks with fairly accurate points. I do need to make a table top Ironing board and that is now on my list to make.

I’m Barry — a retired electrician who traded wires for fabric and found a new passion in quilting. Since retiring in 2021, I’ve enjoyed the freedom to create, travel, and share my projects on my YouTube channel, Barry Quilts. Retirement has given me the time to do what I love most — make, learn, and inspire others along the way.
